In Romeo's defense

Can you remember a time when you were blamed for something, but you felt you were innocent. I expect Romeo feels the same way at this point in the story. Write a short defense of Romeo's behavior in the death of Mercutio. Write it as if you were Benvolio writing to explain the whole matter to Juliet (remember it was her cousin who was killed). Minimum 50 words.

  1. i would feel the same way as romeo because if someone killed one of my best friends and the person that killed him was my wife's cousin i would have killed him too, i dont care who he is,no one kill my part family members.

  3. My cousin Romeo is innocent because Tybalt started the fight, and Romeo didnt fight back. Mecuitio just started fighting Tybalt because Romeo was just getting hit and when Mercutio was going to hit Tybalt Romeo stopped him. Tybalt wanted to kill Romeo with a piece of glass and Mercutio saved and Mercutio died. Romeo wanted revenge on Mercutio and killed Tybalt. thats why i say Romeo is inocent.

  4. Romeo didnt do anything wrong. He was just getting revenge for his dead friend. I mean wouldn't you kill the killer of your best friend? I personally would. And Romeo was just taking up on Benvolios offer of a fight so, he did nothing wrong.

  5. Juliet, even though you are upset that Tybalt was killed, it was not all entirely romeo's fault. romeo was just angry that Mercutio had died. mercutio was romeo's best friend, and how would you feel if you best friend died. you would probably want revenge on the person who did it too. you cannot not entirely blame romeo because it was tybaly who killed mercutio first.

  6. Juliet, I know that you must be devastated because of what happened to your cousin, but you cannot blame Romeo for what he has done. If Tybalt hadn't killed off Mercutio, Romeo would've never killed your cousin. The only reason Romeo killed Tybalt is because Tybalt killed Romeo's best friend, Mercutio. Think, if your best friend was killed, you would've killed the killer too, would you not?

  7. Romeo`s defense is that he didnt mean to kill Mercutio. It wasn't his fault that he died. It was your cousin Tybalt. Then Tybalt tried to kill Romeo but then Romeo killed him for his own defense. If you were there to watch the fight you would understand what had to be done.

  8. Romeo was totally right for killing Tybalt. Tybalt killed Mercutio, which is a big crime. By the laws of back then probably were that if you killed someone, you will be executed. Mercutio wasn't even part of any of the houses. Romeo did what the law would have done to Tybalt anyways.

  9. Romeo should not be punished for what he did. All he did was to revenge his friend Mercutio. Tybalt was a man who was kind of evil sooo...it was also that it kind of looked like that Tybalt ran up to Romeo and got stabbed when Romeo raised his sword into the air.

  10. Tyblat was the one who started the fight and had killed Mercutio. Roemo tried to stop the fight between Tyblat and Mercutio, he did not want to fight with Tyblat. Tybalt kept on provoking Romeo and Mercutio got mad. When Tybalt killed Mercutio, Romeo wanted revenge. Mercutio was Romeo's friend and was a neutral man.

  11. pretend I'm mercutio:
"oh juliet you've got it all wrong! romeo didnt do it on purpose, his best friend was killed by your cousin so all he wanted was revenge his friend. he denied the challenge in the first place but then everything started and he was only trying to stop it. your cousin stab mercutio right under romeo arm so he was extremely pissed.

  12. Dear Juliet
I know you are very mad at Romeo for killing Tybalt. But in his defense I think he had every right to do what he did. Mercutio was his best friend and he cared for him very dearly. I know that instead of killing him he could have went straight to the prince. But just think about how hurt he was and still is. Think about what you would do if your best friend died in your arms
    Yours truly
    Benvolio

  13. Juliet, i have some bad news. Mercutio, Tybalt and Romeo got into an altercation and i hate to say it, But Tybalt was killed. But before you start comming to conclusions, allow me to explain. Tybalt had notice that Romeo was giving you the eye and he wasn't so happy about it. So he sent a letter To romeo challenging him to a fight. Mercutio decided to get involved by siding with romeo and well.
Tybalt killed Mercutio and Romeo wasn't too happy aobut so he killed tybalt. He just wanted to get gim back for killing his friend. Don't tell me that you wouldn't do the same if something happened to your friend?!

  14. I do remember a time when I blame for something that I didn't do... But I don't want to talk about it thought, it seems like a very stupid thing to talk about so...yeah no...sorry.

Romeo:I didn't do it on purpose he brought it on himself. And I just let my anger management take over. lol. XD

Bevolio: You see cousin this dude is getting on my nerve and then I got mad and we fought, then I don't know I blacked out and then I 'accidentally' killed him...Oops! 0_o

  15. Romeo was totally right for killing Tybalt. Your cousin Tybalt killed our friend Mercutio, which is a big crime. By law Tybalt should have been executed. Mercutio wasn't part of our house or your house. Romeo did what the law would have done to Tybalt anyways.

But Tybalt have take it too serious. He get Mercutio mad. They started the fight. But Romeo try to stop them but Tybalt slide the sword under his arm and kills Mercutio. 17. Dear Juliet,
Romeo was the one who wanted peace. But Tybalt had pushed Romeo to his breaking point. Your cousin was not a great man and died for reasons of what he had done to Mercutio, which was he had killed him.Romeo may had done things that angered Tybalt but, he would never mean to do no wrong.

  18. Sorry Juleit for what happened. It was all Tybalt's fault. He started the whole thing by killing Meercutio. Romeo did the right thing so don't hate him

  20. I believe that Romeo was right in what he did because his friend Mercutio was killed, and just because he killed Tybalt, did not mean he should be in trouble because back then, if you killed you should also die. It should not be Romeos fault because he was doing the right thing in killing him.

  21. Dear juLiet.
i am telling you this that because its not romeos fault and i know this bacause this is my cousin and he tells me everything and i also saw it all ia m the whitness so juliet just remember that its not romeos fault. That is all i wanted to tell you.

  22. Dear Juliet,
Romeo only killed Tybalt because he was very angry. Tybalt was the one who startrd it. He killed Mercutio and Mercutio was a very good friend of Romeo. Tybalt really deserved to die because he was responsible for the death of Mercutio. So I hope that you forgive Romeo and not be angry with him because it really wasn't his fault.

  23. juliet... romeo didnt kill your cousin on purpose the only reason why he did it is because romeo got really mad because your cousin killed mercutio. so he just couldnt take it anymore so when he finally got the gun he just shot and after he knew it was a mistake. so it your choice to forgive him or not to forgive him.

  25. It was ok that Romeo killed him because he killed his best friend. Romeo also didn't want to fight with them but they did. So i think what Romeo did was okay but also bad.

  26. well i think that its not romeos fault because why would he want to kill his own cousin that would be rude and dumb. he was trying to stop it but i quess it didnt work .

  30. I think that Romeo didn't do anything wrong. the reason is that Tybalt want to cause trouble. then Romeo's friend want to help Romeo, but accidently got kill. so Romeo have to get a revenge.

  31. Oh, my dear cousin's wife, Romeo was not at fault for the death of your cousin, Tybalt. At fist Romeo would only talk of peace and loving Tybalt, but after Mercuitio was slain by him, Romeo was mad and wanted revenge. You must believe me, Romeo would not kill your cousin without a purpose; he only did it because his best friend is dead.

  32. Juliet-
you shouldnt be mad at Romeo or blame him for Tybalts death. He was only trying to help by putting his hand there. But then Mercutio stabbed him. It would have happened either way, so there is no need to blame romeo for it.
